Direct Access

In 1979 Maryland obtained direct access legislation allowing patients to go directly to a licensed physical therapist without a physician referral.

While state law allows direct access, some insurers may have additional requirements. To find out if your insurance company requires a referral for PT, simply contact our office.

• Direct access to a physical therapist at Evidence PT in Glenn Dale, Clinton or Laurel, MD will allow you to be treated earlier, resulting in a quicker recovery and return to your normal activities.
• Early physical therapy helps patients feel better sooner and reduces the odds of disability, needing surgery, pain medications, or imaging.
• Your physician of choice can still be actively involved in your care just as your physical therapist of choice.
